
It was one year ago, July 12, that conflict erupted in Lebanon, causing thousands of injuries and forcing nearly a million civilians from their homes in search of safety.
Within days, International Medical Corps launched a massive emergency response aimed at not only alleviating the immediate suffering of displaced and vulnerable populations, but also helping repair Lebanon’s devastated health care system.
One year later, amid recurrent civil strife and Israeli incursions, the needs remain enormous. But IMC’s signature approach of providing relief along with training for local health care workers is already proving to be critical in helping return Lebanon’s people to self-reliance.
